Tournament Format

The Tradition Format will be a true round robin of five 4-ball matches over the course of three days.  The flight winners plus wild card teams will compete in a shootout at the conclusion of the match play tournament on Saturday afternoon.

POINT SYSTEM

• Five 9-hole four-ball matches in each flight

• Each match is worth 10 points (max 7 pts for winning team)

- 1 point for winning a hole

- 1/2 point for a tie

- 1 point for winning the match

- 1/2 point for a tie in the match

Shoot-out Format:

EACH FLIGHT WINNER AND THE WILD-CARD TEAM WILL QUALIFY FOR THE SHOOT-OUT. THE WILD-CARD TEAM WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE TEAM (THAT DOESN’T WIN ITS FLIGHT) WITH THE MOST UN-CAPPED POINTS IN ROUNDS 4 & 5 OF THE TOURNAMENT.

As in past years, any team making a “par 3” on the first hole will move on to the next round. This year (to help speed up play), any team hitting the green on the tee shot of the first round will be granted a “2-putt par” and will proceed to the next round.

HANDICAP CALCULATIONS:

A player’s handicap will be determined based on his tee selection. Per USGA guidelines, teams with a difference of 9 strokes (between the players) will have to incur a 10% reduction in their handicap (for both players).

FLIGHT ARRANGEMENTS:

FLIGHTS WILL BE DETERMINED BY TEE BOX SELECTIONS AND THE CUMULATIVE HANDICAP OF A TEAM.

Teams with the greatest differential between players will be paired in the same flight.

Year in and year out, this continues to be the best golfing event that I participate in.

You guys did a phenomenal job in my opinion and my first Tradition definitely exceeded my expectations. The organization and execution of the entire event was excellent and my guest and I had a blast. It was a great showcase event for the club and I think everyone involved thoroughly enjoyed the week/weekend. Congrats to all club personnel involved! I can’t wait for next year!
